Summer Volunteer Opportunities!

  AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY needs teens to help with office duties such as data entry and other clerical duties, often on an as-needed basis.  Youth can also get involved with Relay for Life events by starting a team (of 8-15 people) or help out at the event with set-up, register people, fill luminaria bags, etc.) Dates and places are: Saucon June 1-2, Bethlehem June 9-10, Easton June 15-16 and Whitehall June 22-23. CAMELOT FOR CHILDREN is looking for youth, minimum age 14 to help at day camp for children with special needs. Any spare time can make a difference - not required to commit to all days.   COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE’S FOWLER COMMUNITY TECHNOLOGY CENTER needs teens, 16 years old, entering 11th grade, to assist elementary and middle school students who are in a summer morning program learning to use a computer through projects such as digital photography and robotics. Good computer skills, maturity, good people skills, and a desire to work with younger kids are important. Must have access to reliable transportation.  Doug Chen: 610-691-5620, dchen@caclv.org.
  FIRTH YOUTH CENTER DAY CAMP  seeks teens, age 16 and up, to help with activities, games, swimming, and arts/crafts at day camp between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. any weekday – will be supervised by camp staff.  Joe Ciangiola: 908-454-7281, ciangiola@yahoo.com.
 

GOOD  SHEPHERD is looking for teens, minimum age 14, to help with programs including recreation, office assistants, unit clerks, transporters, computer data, gardening and resident assistants. Teens are needed between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. any weekday and some weekends. JoAnn Frey: 610-776-3125, jfrey@gsrh.org.

  HISTORIC BETHLEHEM PARTNERSHIP is looking for teens, minimum age 13, to help at the Blueberry Festival various 3 hour shifts between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. July 20-22 at Burnside Plantation. Areas of interest for volunteers include food service, entertainment, livestock, children’s area, house tour, garden, admissions, classic autos, crafters, volunteer hospitality and parking.  HBI is also looking for teens to be museum docents and tour guides 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. or 1:30-5 p.m. Thursday – Sunday. KIRKLAND VILLAGE seeks teens, minimum age 13, to transport residents to in-house activities and appointments, assist in the Market Place, be a friendly visitor, play piano for residents, or take around ice cart.  Hours are flexible – mostly morning and early afternoon, any day of the week. LUTHER CREST RETIREMENT COMMUNITY is looking youth, minimum age 14 to help with in-house activities and trips off campus, be a friendly visitor, help fill out weekly menus, and transport residents to in-house appointments. PENNSYLVANIA SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL needs teens, minimum age 14, to become part of the junior guild. Teens will usher, take tickets, assist in souvenir and concession stands and assist patrons. Hours and days vary. Timothy Walling: 610-282-9455, ext 8, timothy.walling@desales.edu.

  PHOEBE HOME NURSING AND REHAB CENTER needs teens, minimum age 13 or having completed 7th grade, to transport residents in wheelchairs to and from in-house appointments. Hours are 8:30 a.m.-noon any day Monday-Thursday, or 1-3 p.m. any day Monday-Friday. Sharon Benson: 610-794-5362, sbenson@phoebe.org.
  SIXTH STREET SHELTER needs teens, minimum age 13, to provide child care for children of residents during the day. Teens will read books and play with children staying at the shelter while their parents attend meetings and appointments. Days and times vary.   THE CRAYOLA FACTORY AT TWO RIVERS LANDING is looking for youth, minimum age 15, to assist in facilitating projects and art activities at The Crayola Factory between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and/or 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays. Mary Long: 610-559-6605, mlong@crayola.com
