Breakfast for Champions

The Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley’s annual “Breakfast for Champions”, the Lehigh Valley’s kick-off of observances for National Volunteer Week, was held Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Event Center at blue, Bethlehem.

Nomination forms for the 2016 event will be sent out to non-profits beginning in January.

The Breakfast for Champions, presented by the Volunteer Center and its community partners, pays tribute to volunteers from nonprofit agencies in the Lehigh Valley and Warren County.

National Volunteer Week, which runs a full week in April, is sponsored by the Points of Light Institute, a nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to engaging more people more effectively in volunteer service. The Volunteer Center is a Points of Light Institute/Hands On Network member.

2015 Award winners

Sandy Kelly/UPS Youth Scholarship, honoring a high school senior who has made a meaningful volunteer contribution.

Sam and Betsy Torrence Partners in Volunteerism Award, sponsored by United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, recognizing a couple who together has made a significant volunteer contribution.

Excellence in Volunteer Management, sponsored by The Morning Call. This award recognizes and honors an individual who has done exemplary work through vision and leadership in the field of volunteerism and made a significant contribution to the growth and direction of volunteer administration as a profession.

Family Volunteer Award. This award honors a family that gives back to their community in an extraordinary and meaningful way. The family was nominated by Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County.

Society of Volunteer Administrators Youth Scholarship, sponsored by Society of Volunteer Administrators.. This award honors a high school senior who has made a meaningful volunteer contribution with an agency that is a member of the Society of Volunteer Administrators.
