Opportunity Details
A one-acre garden, called the Easton Urban Farm, supplies fresh produce, as well as flowers, each summer to underserved neighborhoods. Three times a week, we rely on volunteers to prepare rows, plant, weed, compost, water, pick and bundle and transport veggies to food pantries and senior centers in Easton. We are looking for the volunteer who can come at the same time most weeks, to do fairly heavy gardening work along with several other volunteers, and be led by one of our farm managers. In addition, we have raised beds for volunteers with physical limitations.
Our kick-off breakfast and orientation session will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, February 25 in the Neighborhood Center (yellow farmhouse) at 902 Philadelphia Road, Easton. Our first outdoor planting time will be 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, weather permitting.
The three regular time slots for the Spring season will be: 8-11 a.m. Thursdays; 4-6 p.m. Wednesdays; and 8-11 a.m. Saturdays.
Prior to official placement as a volunteer, there is an admissions process. This helps ensure a good fit between our mission and the volunteer.
