Opportunity Details
Experience the Joy of Special Olympics as a coach for our Bocce team! The primary responsibility of a head coach is to teach the skills and instill the spirit that defines a true athlete; they are role models and character builders. Head Coaches help athletes identify and develop their own strengths and abilities while showing them how to build upon those strengths and improve every day. Head Coaches become more than a teacher, mentor, and role model; head Coaches are seen as a leader to the Athletes and community.
While bocce knowledge/experience is helpful, we also offer coach training opportunities and resources, and our current coaches can provide some training and guidance to help you get acclimated.
Bocce practice starts in September and runs until November, with some opportunities for competition throughout the season. Practice takes place in Whitehall on Sundays at 4PM. If you are interested, we hope that you can join us as an assistant coach for the remainder of this year's season, and then take over as head coach next year.
Volunteers are asked to complete our registration form and background check. For more information or to register, please reach out to us at volunteer@specialolympicspa.org. Thank you!
